D. Possessive Form
We form the possessive of singular nouns in English by adding’s Example: The boy’s school. If the noun is plural and thus already ends in s, we simply add the apostrophe. Example: The boys’ school. If the plural noun does not end in s, the usual’s is added. Example: The children’s school.
The possessive form is used only for people and animals. Thus it is incorrect to say: The book’s cover.
In everyday conversation, the noun modified by the possessive is understood and not expressed. Example: I am going to my friend’s (house).
